The Twin Royal Pagodas Doi Inthanon: A Tribute to Thai Royalty
No Doi Inthanon day tour is complete without a visit to the Twin Royal Pagodas Doi Inthanon.
Built to honor King Rama IX and Queen Sirikit, these majestic pagodas stand on a scenic ridge surrounded by vibrant gardens. The intricate carvings and stunning architectural design make them one of the top attractions at Doi Inthanon.
The pagodas offer sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, making them one of the best photography spots in Doi Inthanon. The tranquil atmosphere and colorful gardens create a perfect blend of cultural and natural beauty that visitors will cherish.
No matter what the weather is like, experiencing the stunning views from the pagodas is wonderful. On clear days you can see deep into the farmland in the valley below. On cloudy days you might have the opportunity to take in the sea of clouds below you or be enveloped in the mist of the clouds. Each weather condition creates its own unique enjoyment.

Standing at the Doi Inthanon Summit: Thailand’s Highest Mountain
Thailand’s highest mountain, it stands at 2,565 meters above sea level. The summit offers cool temperatures, a refreshing contrast to Thailand’s tropical heat, and a short nature trail called the Ang Ka Luang Nature Trail. This serene walk through a lush cloud forest in Thailand showcases moss-covered trees and unique flora.
At the summit there’s not much of a view to enjoy, but there’s information displays and a nice little coffee shop where you can enjoy a hot beverage after strolling around the Ang Ka trail.
Don’t forget to take a photo at the iconic “Highest Spot in Thailand” sign, a must-have souvenir from your Doi Inthanon Day Tour. Another popular photo opportunity, especially during the months of December and January, is to take a selfie with the sign showing the current temperature. Early in the morning during winter it can be literally freezing!

Exploring Doi Inthanon Waterfalls
Doi Inthanon waterfalls are some of the most beautiful natural attractions in Thailand. On your Doi Inthanon day trip, make sure to visit these three stunning cascades:
- Mae Ya Waterfall Doi Inthanon: This multi-tiered waterfall is one of the park’s most picturesque spots. Its serene surroundings and cascading waters make it a must-see for nature enthusiasts. This is great to experience early in the morning when there are few other tourists around.
- Wachirathan Waterfall: Known for its powerful flow and misty spray, this waterfall is easily accessible and perfect for photos. It’s a popular stop on most guided tours to Doi Inthanon.
Take care when photographing this waterfall to protect your camera or phone from the spray hanging in the air. - Siriphum Waterfall: Surrounded by greenery, this twin-stream waterfall offers a peaceful setting for a quiet picnic or nature walk.
Visiting these waterfalls is a must when exploring the top attractions at Doi Inthanon National Park.

Trekking the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail
The Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail is one of the best hikes in Thailand and a favorite activity for adventure seekers. This guided trek takes you through lush forests and offers panoramic views of misty valleys and rolling mountains. During certain times of the year, you can witness the awe-inspiring “sea of mist,” where clouds blanket the valleys below.
The trail is well-maintained, and guides provide insights into the area’s diverse flora and fauna. It’s an unforgettable experience for those looking to combine Doi Inthanon trekking with stunning scenery.
You must go with a local guide on this trail. You’ll find them waiting for you at the head of the trail. During the peak season, around new year, be prepared to wait as this trail is extremely popular with Thais and foreign visitors alike.
Kew Mae Pan is open during the dry season from November 1 until May 31, between 0600 and 1600.

The Royal Agricultural Research Station
A stop at the Royal Agricultural Research Station is a must for those interested in sustainable farming and local produce. The station features vibrant flower gardens, greenhouses, and tea plantations. It’s a great spot for families looking for family-friendly activities in Doi Inthanon or anyone interested in learning about Thai agriculture.
Visitors can sample fresh fruits and herbal teas grown on-site while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. It’s an inspiring example of how modern farming techniques coexist with environmental conservation.
The restaurant here is the best on the mountain. The menu is varied with a superb selection of local delectable dishes.
Best Time to Visit Doi Inthanon
The best time to visit Doi Inthanon is during the cool season from November to February. During this time, the weather is pleasant, and the park’s flora is in full bloom. The cooler temperatures also make it ideal for trekking and exploring the park’s diverse attractions.

Where To Stay When Visiting the National Park
There’s only a few options to choose from if you want to stay inside the national park. These are mainly lower quality cabins or tent sites.
Some of the local hill tribe villages are permitted to run businesses inside the park, but there are not many. If you’re looking for more relaxing accommodation, including:
